Amanda Brugel

(February 27th, 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a secluded community in that part of the island of Montreal known as"the West Island. This West Island, to those who are unfamiliar with it, is a large region that runs from Lachine until the west. Amanda Brugel grew up on the island and is often referred to as her birthplace. However, she only resided there for a very short duration. Brugel developed on Courtice just outside Oshawa located in Ontario. She had a dream to be a dancer but a growth spurt led to her growing beyond her dance partner. According to an article in the Toronto Star, she revealed that in heels she was 6 foot 1 inches tall. Once I was bigger than any male partner then I slowed down. A lot of former dancers go on to acting, and in Brugel's situation, it was the nudge of the drama instructor at her high school that led her in the right direction. The teacher who suggested she go after a role in the school's annual production. The teacher who suggested she take on a part in the annual school production. It led to her receiving a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship from York University. In 2000, she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts at York University. The career of Brugel spans more than 20 years and she's appeared in 60 different productions that have screened on large screens and on smaller ones. Her most notable role was the one of Rita (pictured in the below photo) on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian actor for Season 1 of the show and was not seen much.
